2010 NADAV Peoplehood Award

The 2010 NADAV Peoplehood Award was presented to one individual and one entity:

Ms. Angelica Berrie for her contribution in raising new and pluralistic voices within the Jewish tradition and promoting dialogue between Jews of different backgrounds through her philanthropic work in Israel and in the global Jewish community.

For the video “We Con the World” filmed by Latma group

Ms. Angelica Berrie is the Chair of the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America and President of the Russell Berrie Foundation. Berrie’s dedication for Jewish Peoplehood is manifested in her committed work in Jewish communities in Israel and North America.

“We Con the World” is a remarkable video produced by the creative team of Latma. The video satirizes the professedly peaceful intentions of activists aboard the ship Mavi Marmara, which led the Free Gaza flotilla in 2010. Latma’s take on the issue made many Jews feel proud in a time of conflict and tension for our people. The personal initiative, sincere effort and brilliant use of modern media has reached a mass audience and gave rise to dialogue among Jews worldwide. The video has gotten over three million views on YouTube.
